The consortium brings together top players in the area of context-aware and social recommender systems, SMEs that are motivated by the drive to push into new markets with their technologies, and end users of recommender systems that need new types of recommendation that can exploit embedding within a social network.
Together the CrowdRec consortium partners have a history of collaboration in the area of benchmarking and evaluation of recommender systems. They have laid theoretical groundwork for CrowdRec, with their work on context-aware and social recommender systems, the latter distinguished with the best paper award at ACM RecSys 2012.
